Stresful situations for police officers at the Czech Police Protection service

Abstract:

Smyslem této práce je seznámit čtenáře s tím, co je Policie ČR, jaké jsou její útvary, co je Ochranná služba PČR a jaké činnosti provádí. Dále co je stres, jakým způsobem stres působí na lidské tělo, jaké nejčastější nemoci jsou se stresem spojeny a jaké nejvíce stresující činnosti působí na policisty Ochranné služby PČR v přímém výkonu služby. Poznáním těchto zátěží můžeme přispět k lepšímu zvládání stresových situací a také k celkovému porozumění sama sebe a jak my reagujeme na stres. Tato práce má pomoci zařadit techniky zvládání stresu do výcviku běžného policisty v přímém výkonu služby, tak aby když se dostane do stresové situace, aby věděl, co má dělat, jak se chovat, aby byl schopen tuto situaci vyřešit správně a pokud možno s co nejmenší psychickou zátěží. Cílem práce je zjistit, která/é činnost/i u Ochranné služby PČR nejvíce zatěžují/stresují policisty, zda existují nějaké rozdíly v souvislosti s pohlavím, věkem a délkou praxe dotazovaných policistů. Dílčím cílem je zjistit, jak často dochází u policistů Ochranné služby PČR k zátěžovým/stresovým situacím v souvislosti s výkonem jejich služby.

Abstract:

The purpose of this thesis is to make the reader acquainted with the role of The Police of the Czech Republic, with the range of their departments, with what the Protective Service of PCR is assigned to do and what responsibilities are carried out. Another aspect dealt with in this thesis is stress and how it affects the human body. The most frequent stress-related diseases are also referred to. Furtheremore, the most stressful activities and actions, affecting the Police of the Protective Service when on duty, are also considered. By coming to understand this stressful load, we can learn how to cope with these stressful situations more efficiently and effectively. It also gives us a better insight into who we really are and how we respond to stress. This thesis is meant to employ and include techniques targeted to become a part of a regular training of an average policeman on duty. These techniques should give him practice in dealing with stressful situations so that he will be empowered with the knowledge of what to do, how to behave and how to solve the situation appropriately. Should the policeman find himself exposed to such a situation, he should be able to cope with it with as little psychical exposure and load as possible. The goal of this thesis is to assess which activity/ activities is/are most stressful for the police working for the PČR and whether there are any differences regarding the policemen´s gender, age and the length of their work experience among the interviewees. Another partial goal is to assess the frequency with which the policemen working for the Protection Sevice of ČR are exposed to stressful situations when on duty.
