Children at Risk of Specific Learning Difficulties in Kindergartens

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývala problematikou dětí v riziku specifických poruch učení v mateřských školách. Jejím cílem bylo zjistit, zda a jak probíhá screening dětí v mateřských školách za účelem odhalení rizika specifických poruch učení. Práce byla rozdělena na část teoretickou a praktickou. V teoretické části diplomové práce jsme se zabývali specifickými poruchami učení z pohledu etiologie, deficitů dílčích funkcí, sociálních dopadů a prevence. Dále jsme se zabývali diagnostickým procesem v mateřské škole, jeho významem, metodami a způsoby záznamu. Nedílnou součástí kapitoly byl výčet testových metod vhodných pro diagnostiku rizika specifických poruch učení v předškolním věku. Poslední kapitola této části se zabývala profesí učitele mateřské školy, protože právě učitele považujeme za hlavního činitele v procesu odhalování dětí v riziku specifických poruch učení. V rámci praktické části diplomové práce jsme zpracovali odpovědi učitelů běžných mateřských škol, kterých jsme se pomocí dotazníku ptali, zda jsou schopni identifikovat dítě v riziku specifických poruch učení, jaké metody k tomu využívají a zda tyto děti cíleně vyhledávají. Metody využívané k identifikaci a při cíleném vyhledávání dětí v riziku specifických poruch učení byly následně dány do souvislosti s nejvyšším dosaženým vzděláním respondentů. Součástí praktické části diplomové práce bylo také porovnání předpokladů učitelek mateřských škol, které na riziko specifických poruch učení u dětí usuzovaly převážně z pozorování, s výsledky testových metod. Výzkum prokázal, že nadpoloviční většina učitelů mateřských škol screening provádí a využívá k tomu různé metody. V rámci navrhovaných opatření jsme doporučili průběžné zvyšování diagnostických kompetencí učitelů mateřských škol, jejich kvalifikace a prohloubení znalostí problematiky specifických poruch učení, včetně možnosti užívání testových metod.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis focused children at risk of specific learning difficulties in kindergartens. Its aim was to find out whether and how is screening of children in kindergartens takes place in order to identify risk of specific learning difficulties. The work was dividend into part theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part of the diploma thesis we dealt with specific learning difficulties from the point of view of etiology, dificits of partial functions, social impacts and prevention. We also dealt with the diagnostic process in kindergarten, its significance, methods and methods of recording. An integral part of the chapter included a list of test methods suitable for diagnosing the risk of specific learning difficulties in preschool age. The last chapter of this section dealt with the nursery teacher's profession, because we consider teachers to be the main factor in the process of detecting children at risk of specific learning difficulties. In the practical part of the diploma thesis we worked out the answers of teachers of normal kindergartens, which we asked through the questionnaire whether they are able to identify the child at risk of specific learning difficulties, what methods they use and whether these children are targeting. The methods used to identify and target children at risk of specific learning difficulties were subsequently linked to the highest education attained by respondents. Part of the practical part of the thesis was also a comparison of the prerequisites of kindergarten teachers, who predict the risk of specific learning difficulties mainly from observation, with the results of test methods. Research has shown that the majority of kindergarten teachers performs screening and uses for it different methods. Within the framework of the proposed measures, we recommended the continuous improvement of the diagnostic competencies of kindergarten teachers, their qualification and the deepening of the knowledge of specific learning difficulties, including the possibility of using test methods.
