Apartheid in South Africa in the world media from 1948 till the presidency of Nelson Mandela

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá segregační politikou v Jihoafrické republice od jejího oficiálního zavedení v roce 1948 do nástupu Nelsona Mandely na post prezidenta republiky v roce 1994. Práce je zaměřená na odraz nejdůležitějších osobností a událostí ve světových médiích, zejména The New York Times, The Times, The Guardian, The Independent a BBC. Dalším významným zdrojem jsou zprávy OSN a publikace Apartheid in Practice, která obsahuje vybrané části diskriminačních zákonů vydaných po roce 1948. Cílem práce je analýza vývoje, průběhu, příčin i důsledků apartheidu.

Abstract:

The aim of this document is the policy of segregation in South Africa from its official installation in the year 1948 till the presidency of Nelson Mandela in 1994. The document focus on reactions of world media, mainly The New York Times, The Times, The Guardian, The Independent and BBC, on the most important events and personalities. Other significant sources are reports of OSN and publication Apatheid in Practice which contains some part of discriminative laws passed on after the year 1948. The goal of the document is analysis of development, cause and consequences of the policy of apartheid.
