Opposition of the verbs "ser" and "estar" in students of Spanish as a foreign language

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on the usage of the verbs ser and estar of the Czech of Spanish as a foreign language. The theoretical part is dedicated to the etymology of the verbs ser and estar, their meanings, characteristics, and the verbs' usage in two selected textbooks of Spanish as a foreign language. The part of the study explains the materials, procedure and posits of the hypothesis. Furthermore, a more profound analysis was done with selected examples from the cloze task and grammaticality judgement task that the participants took in order to measure their knowledge about the Spanish verbs ser and estar. The main aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyse the knowledge of students of Spanish, who achieved level B1 in reference to PCIP, of the verbs ser and estar and checking their knowledge of an inferior level (A2), their own achieved level (B1) and a higher level (B2).

Abstract:

Este trabajo de fin de grado se centra en el tema del uso de los verbos ser y estar en los estudiantes del espanol como lengua extranjera. En el marco teórico se presenta el tema del origen de los verbos ser y estar, sus significados y características de los dos verbos, sus usos y también los usos presentes en dos manuales de ensenanza de espanol para los extranjeros. La parte práctica responde a las hipótesis y también se dedica al análisis de las respuestas de algunos ejemplos escogidos del nivel A2, B1 y B2 (según el Plan Curricular del Instituto Cervantes). El objetivo de este trabajo de fin de grado es un análisis de los conocimientos de los estudiantes de espanol como lengua extranjera, con el nivel B1 alcanzado, del uso de dichos verbos en cuanto al nivel A2, B1 y B2 a través un cuestionario creado con dos actividades (una actividad de elección múltiple y un juicio gramatical).
