Prediktory osobní pohody a posttraumatického rozvoje: mezinárodní srovnání českého, švýcarského a německého souboru

Predictors of subjective well-being and posttraumatic growth: comparison of Czech, Swiss and German samples

Abstract:

V této magisterské diplomové práci se zabýváme tématikou osobní pohody a posttraumatického osobnostního rozvoje. Na datech z výzkumu „Naděje 2014“ zkoumáme vztahy mezi vybranými proměnnými (prožívaná naděje, pozitivní sociální vztahy, dispoziční naděje, pozitivní důsledky traumatu, negativní důsledky traumatu, optimismus, pesimismus, generativita, smysluplnost, spiritualita a životní spokojenost). Dále se snažíme se zjistit, které z nich jsou významnými prediktory osobní pohody a posttraumatického rozvoje v obou jeho dimenzích – pozitivních i negativních důsledcích. Na závěr srovnáváme průměrné hodnoty nejvýznamnějších prediktorů osobní pohody i posttraumatického rozvoje z hlediska demografické proměnné pohlaví. V teoretické části práce přinášíme základní teoretické koncepty obou sledovaných fenoménů i jednotlivých proměnných. Ve výzkumné části práce se metodami statistické kvantitativní analýzy zaměřujeme zodpovězení výzkumných otázek a v závěru přinášíme i srovnání průměrných hodnot v rámci jednotlivých výzkumných souborů. Výzkumný soubor tvořilo celkem 7039 respondentů z tří evropských států (1409 respondentů z České republiky; 2694 respondentů z Německa a 2936 respondentů ze Švýcarska). Sběr dat probíhal on-line formou prostřednictvím následujících nástrojů: Changes in Outlook Questionnaire – short form (Joseph et al., 2006), The Adult Dispositional Hope Scale (Snyder et al., 1991), General Life Satisfaction Scale (Dalbert et al., 1984), Hope Scale (Krafft, 2014), SoMe – The Sources of Meaning & Meaningfulness Scale (Schnell, 2009) a LOT - Life Orientation Test (Carver & Scheier et al., 1994). Naše výsledky ukázaly, že nejvýznamnějším prediktorem prožívané míry osobní pohody ve všech třech výzkumných souborech byla smysluplnost. Nejvýznamnějším prediktorem negativních důsledků traumatické události, který zmírňuje jejich dopad, se ukázala životní spokojenost. V případě pozitivních důsledků traumatické události je jejich nejsilnějším prediktorem generativita v německém a švýcarském souboru, v českém souboru to je prožívaná naděje. Dále se ukázalo, že průměrné hodnoty jednotlivých proměnných v některých případech nevykazují statisticky významné rozdíly.

Abstract:

The main theme of this master’s thesis is personal well-being and post-traumatic growth. Based on the data from “Hope 2014” study we look into the relations between selected variables – perceived hope, positive social relationships, dispositional hope, positive and negative consequences of the trauma, optimism, generativity, meaningfulness, spirituality and life satisfaction. Thereafter we strive to ascertain which ones are significant indicators of personal well-being and post-traumatic growth in both its dimensions – positive and negative consequences. In closing we draw a comparison between the average values of the most relevant indicators of personal well-being and post-traumatic growth from the perspective of demographic gender variable. In the theoretical part we provide the elementary theoretical concepts of both phenomena being observed as well as all of the variables. The research part of the thesis uses the methods of statistical quantitative analysis to focus on answering the research questions and in conclusion also the comparison of average figures within each respective research set. The research population comprised of a total of 7039 respondents from three European countries (1409 from the Czech republic, 2694 from Germany and 2936 from Switzerland). Gathering of the data took place on-line in a form of one of the following tools: Changes in Outlook Questionnaire – short form (Joseph et al., 2006), The Adult Dispositional Hope Scale (Snyder et al., 1991), General Life Satisfaction Scale (Dalbert et al., 1984), Hope Scale (Krafft, 2014), SoMe – The Sources of Meaning & Meaningfulness Scale (Schnell, 2009) a LOT - Life Orientation Test (Carver & Scheier et al., 1994). Our results show that the most significant indicator of experienced degree of personal well- being in all three research sets was meaningfulness. The most relevant indicator of negative consequences of a traumatic event that mitigates their impact appears to be satisfaction in life. In the case of positive consequences of a traumatic event, generativity turned out to be the most powerful indicator in the German and Swiss population and experienced hope in the Czech one. Furthemore we have discovered that in some cases the average values of each respective variable do not show statistically relevant differences.
