The Habrovany Hymn Books

Abstract:

Cílem práce bylo popsat repertoár kancionálů habrovanských, editorské strategie pořadatelů kancionálů, zjistit provenienci zahrnutých písní, identifikovat nové výtvory a ty poté interpretovat. Vzhledem k tomu, že o kancionálech habrovanských zatím neexistuje specializovaná studie, zaměřilili jsme se i na otázky geneze, filiace a autorské atribuce. Součástí práce je písňový katalog věškerého zahrnutého repertoáru (287 písní), rejstřík zjištěných autorů, rejstřík písní s nejstarším výskytem v kancionálech habrovanských a rejstřík strofický. Vzhledem ke specifickému společensko-náboženskému postavení jednoty habrovanských (dobový rozšířený obraz habrovanských jako sekty, podobné pojetí přetrvává i v historiografii) jsme se věnovali i historii jednoty v kontextu jejích vůdčích osobností, Jana Dubčanského, Matěje Poustevníka a Václava z Lilče. Věrouku habrovanských, jak je prezentována v náboženských spisech jednoty, jsme srovnávali s teologicko-didaktickou složkou obsaženou v písních kancionálů. V míře až překvapující jsme v nich nalezli typické prvky učení habrovanských (symbolický charakter svátostí, učení o ospravedlnění skrze víru, kritika „nálezků lidských“, autorita Písma atd.). Jednotlivé dochované kancionály (Písničky křesťanské 1530, Písničky pobožné a pravé křesťanské 1534, Písničky k náboženství křesťanskému náležité 1535, tzv. Habrovanský kancionál) jsme popsali z hlediska zahrnutého repertoáru a jeho provenience, autorství a melodických odkazů. V otázce autorské atribuce jsme se zaměřili na dva písňové soubory od Klimenta Bosáka a patrně Beneše Optáta z Telče. Na základě dochovaných pramenů jsme přiblížili osobnosti obou autorů i jejich konfesní stanovisko a analyzovali jejich hymnografické výtvory zejména z hlediska literárně-estetického. Editorské strategie deklarované v předmluvách kancionálů jsme analyzovali v kontextu zahrnutého repertoáru. Zabývali jsme se recepcí kancionálů, funkcemi písní, editorskými úpravami starších přejatých písní a modelovým adresátem. Vedle hymnografie bratrské a utrakvistické se nám jeví kancionály habrovanských jako zásadní pramen pro literárněvědné zkoumání poezie 16. století a tendencí českého humanistického básnictví.

Abstract:

The aim of the work was to describe the repertoir of the Habrovany hymn books, editorial goals, origin of the included songs, identify the newly created hymns and interpret these. Because of the fact that there is no specialised study dealing with the Habrovany hymn books the focus was on the questions of genesis, filiation and authorship too. The work includes a hymn catalogue of all the repertoir (287 hymns), an index of the identified authors, an index of the longest occurrence in the Habrovany hymn books and a strofic index. Because of the specific social-religious status of the Habrovany brethren (contemporary widespread view of the Habrovany community as a sect, similiar conception is still lively in the historiography) we dealt with the history of the Habrovany brethern in the context of their leading personalities, Jan Dubčanský, Matěj the Hermit and Václav of Lileč. The beliefs, as presented in the theological works of the Habrovany community, were compared with the theological-didactic aspect of the hymns. The typical articles of the Habrovany brethern belief (symbolic understanding of the sacraments, the teaching of justification based on faith, criticism of the „human findings“, authority of the Scripture) were found there. The individual hymn books were described (Christian Hymns 1530, Godly and Truly Christian Hymns 1534, Hymns Suitable for the Christian Religion 1535, the Habrovany hymn book) according to the included repertoir and its origin, authorship and music links. In question of author attribution the focus was on the two hymn sets from Kliment Bosák and Beneš Optát of Telč. Based on the contemporary sources the personalities and confessional attitudes of both of them were shown. Their hymns were analyzed mainly from the literary-esthetic point of view. Editorial goals declared in the introductions of the hymn books were analyzed in the context of the contained repertoir of hymns. The reception of the hymn books, function of the hymns, editorial modifications of the older hymns and model recepient were explored. The Habrovany hymn books appear to be an important object for the research of Czech humanistic poetry, in addition to the hymnography of theBohemian brethern and utraquists.
