The Heart of Darkness as an Initiation Novel
Abstract:
My bachelor thesis interprets Joseph Conrad?s The Heart of Darkness as an intiatory novel. Its main objective is to show how the space of wood, border and castle is realised, further which characters can be defined as the adept, initiator and the being of centre and last but not least, to answer the issue into what the protagonist Marlow was initiated.
Abstract:
Má bakalářská práce interpretuje román Josepha Conrada Srdce temnoty jako iniciační román. Jejím hlavním cílem je ukázat, jak se zde realizuje prostor lesa, hranice a zámku, dále které postavy plní funkci adepta, zasvětitele a bytosti středu, a v neposlední řadě se snaží zodpovědět otázku, do čeho byl hlavní protagonista Marlow zasvěcen.
