The current state of the integration of financial markets in EU

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá dopadem globální finanční krize 2007 - 2008 a následné evropské dluhové krize na podobu integrace finančních trhů v Evropské unii. Před krizí vykazovaly evropské finanční trhy stabilní trend integrace, krize však zapříčinila proces opačný, fragmentaci. Nejvíce se fragmentace projevila na trhu peněz a následně trh s dluhopisy, které byly před krizí nejvíce integrovanými trhy. Naopak nejmenších změn zaznamenal trh akcií, kde i před krizí nebyla integrace tak intenzivní. Finanční krize se také způsobila intenzivní tvorbě nové legislativy či posílení regulace a dohledu finančního sektoru na unijní úrovni. Popud a hlavní náplň této aktivity však nevycházely zevnitř unie, jak tomu bylo v předešlých obdobích evropské integrace. Hlavním iniciátorem byla skupina G20, což je plným důsledkem globalizace a propojování světových finančních trhů. Problémy již totiž nelze řešit pouze lokálně bez globální koordinace.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to analyze the impact of the global financial crisis 2007 -- 2008 and the consequent sovereign-debt crisis on the integration of financial markets in the European Union. Before the crisis, European financial markets showed stable trend of integration. The crisis resulted in reverse process, the fragmentation. The money market, which was the most integrated before the crisis, showed the most rapid fragmentation. The second was the bond market. The least influenced was the equity market, which was also the least integrated one before the crisis. The crisis also resulted in great intensity in making new legislation or strengthening regulation and supervision on European level. The main impulse and goals were set not by EU itself as it was in previous instances. The main initiator was the group G20 which is a result of strong globalization of world financial markets. The problems can no longer be successfully solved just on local level.
