Life of patient with diabetes mellitus

Abstract:

Cíl: Cílem bakalářské práce bylo shrnout současné znalosti o onemocnění diabetes mellitus, jeho příčiny, komplikace a způsoby léčby. Dále zjistit dodržování zdravého životního stylu, diabetické diety, fyzické aktivity a míru kompenzace diabetu v Kravařích na Opavsku. Metodika: Pro sběr dat byl sestaven dotazník, který obsahoval 25 otázek zaměřených na život pacientů s onemocněním diabetes mellitus a jejich znalosti o tomto onemocnění. Sledovaný soubor průzkumu se skládal ze 100 pacientů s onemocněním diabetes mellitus I. a II. typu, kteří v průběhu výzkumu navštívili chirurgickou a interní ambulanci v Kravařích. Respondenti byli rozdělení do dvou skupin, první skupina pacienti s onemocněním diabetes mellitus I. typu, druhá skupina s II. typem onemocnění. Dotazníkové šetření probíhalo v období od 1. 11. 2014 do 15. 3. 2015. Výsledky: Průzkumné šetření zjistilo, že životní styl dotazovaných pacientů je v obou skupinách velmi zarážející. Většina pacientů z obou skupin nedodržuje diabetickou dietu, ani doporučené množství sacharidů ve stravě. Rovněž alkohol v obou skupinách požívá více než 80 % pacientů. Normální hodnoty BMI má jen 32 % pacientů z první skupiny, a 14 % z druhé skupiny. Hladinu glykémie si častěji sledují pacienti s diabetem I. typu. Žádný z respondentů neměl problémy v zaměstnání, při cestování jen několik pacientů z první skupiny. Závěr: Diabetes mellitus je velmi vážné chronické onemocnění. Pacienti prokázali dobré znalosti možných komplikací nemoci diabetes mellitus. Přesto vysoké procento nemocných nedodržuje diabetickou dietu, nesportuje, kouří i pije alkohol.

Abstract:

Objective: The aim of this study was to summarize contemporary knowledge about diabetes mellitus, its causes, complications and treatment modalities. Furthermore, to determine compliance with a healthy lifestyle, diabetic diet, physical activity and the rate of diabetes compensation in Kravare near Opava. Methods: The data collection was compiled questionnaire containing 25 questions focusing on the lives of patients with diabetes mellitus and their knowledge about this disease. Monitored file survey consisted of 100 patients with diabetes mellitus I. and II. type who visited during the research internal and surgical clinic in Kravare. Respondents were divided into two groups, the first group of patients with diabetes mellitus I. type and the second group with II. type of disease. The questionnaire survey covered the period from 1st of November 2014 to 15th of March 2015. Results: The survey found that lifestyle of interviewed patients in both groups is very striking. Most patients in both groups does not comply diabetic diet, nor is it recommended amount of carbohydrates in the diet. Also alcohol enjoys both groups over 80 % of patients. Normal BMI has only 32 % of patients in the first group and 14 % in the second group. Blood-glucose levels more frequently monitor patients with I. type diabetes. None of the respondents had problems at work and while traveling only a few patients from the first group. Conclusion: Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease. Patients demonstrated a good knowledge of the possible complications of the disease diabetes mellitus. Despite the high percentage of patients not complying with a diabetic diet, sport, smoking and drinking alcohol.
