Integration of foreign employees into the Czech workplace

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na problematiku začlenění/adaptace cizince do pracovního kolektivu a nové kultury ve Společnosti XYZ v České republice. Cílem práce je zjistit, jaký je proces adaptace zahraničního zaměstnance do českého pracovního kolektivu ve Společnosti XYZ, jak jsou s tímto procesem cizinci spokojeni a určit doporučení pro zlepšení procesu adaptace pro Společnost XYZ. Teoretická část se zabývá vysvětlením základních pojmů, kulturních dimenzí dle Hofstedeho a Trompenaarse, multikulturním týmům, procesu adaptace a kulturní inteligenci. V praktické části této práce jsou obsáhle rozebrány výsledky dotazníkového šetření, které proběhlo mezi cizinci ve Společnosti XYZ. Součástí praktické části je i pohled z druhé strany, tedy stručně popsané informace získané ze čtyř rozhovorů s manažery, kteří mají ve svém týmu cizince. Díky dotazníkovému šetření a rozhovorům s manažery bylo možné získat nejdůležitější informace o adaptačním procesu, ale také o tom, jak jsou cizinci ve Společnosti XYZ spokojeni.

Abstract:

This Bachelor´s thesis focuses on the integration of foreigners into the Czech workplace, concretely to Company XYZ and into Czech culture. The aim of the thesis is to find out what the process of adaptation of foreign employees to the Czech work team in Company XYZ is, how foreigners are satisfied with this process and to identify recommendations for improving the adaptation process for Company XYZ The theoretical part describes basic concepts and provides information about cultural dimensions by Geert Hofstede and Trompenaars, multicultural teams, adaptation/integration process, or cultural intelligence. In the practical part of this thesis, the results of a questionnaire survey conducted among foreigners in the Company XYZ are extensively described and analyzed. The practical part also includes the view from the other side, i.e. briefly described information obtained from four interviews with managers who have foreigners in their teams. Thanks to the questionnaire survey and the interviews, it was possible to obtain needed information about the adaptation process, but also about the satisfaction of foreigners in Company XYZ.
