Fusion of probability densities in stochastic system state estimation

Abstract:

Disertační práce se zabývá odhadem stavu stochastických systémů a informační fúzí. Je předpokládáno, že senzory poskytující data jsou uspořádány do skupin vybavených příslušným lokálním estimátorem. Smyslem fúze je sloučit informace poskytované lokálními estimátory. Lokální estimátory nemají znalosti o celé řešené úloze, zejména jim není známa hustota pravděpodobnosti vyjadřující společnou informaci příslušnou více lokálním hustotám. Náplní disertační práce je slučování informací ve formě hustot pravděpodobnosti. Primárním cílem disertační práce je navrhnout realizaci fúze hustot pravděpodobnosti ve vybrané neparametrické reprezentaci, jmenovitě v částicové reprezentaci. Kromě základní úlohy odhadu je uvažována i úloha odhadování s omezením, čili úloha využívající informaci z nemodelovaného kontextu. Sekundárním cílem je zobecnit definici konzervativních bodových odhadů a navrženou definici analyzovat. Tento cíl rovněž zahrnuje zobecnění příslušných pravidel fúze. Práce je uvedena obecným pojednáním o informační fúzi, následující kapitola představuje základy úlohy odhadu stavu dynamických stochastických systémů, včetně odhadování pomocí více estimátorů. Po diskuzi současného stavu řešení úlohy fúze hustot pravděpodobnosti jsou stanoveny cíle práce. Primární cíl je dosažen návrhem částic, které důsledně reprezentují odpovídající marginální hustoty pravděpodobnosti a které sdílejí stejné vzorky. Sekundární cíl je dosažen využitím základních informačních měr a přímým odvozením z navržené definice. Získané teoretické výsledky jsou ilustrovány na numerických příkladech.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the state estimation of stochastic systems and with the information fusion. It is supposed that data are provided by sensors that are grouped together into sensor nodes and that the sensor nodes are equipped with their own local estimators. The purpose of the fusion is to merge the pieces of information that are provided by the local estimators. The local estimators do not have complete knowledge of the estimation problem and no probability density function representing the common information corresponding to more local densities is known to them. The goal of the thesis is the merging of the pieces of information in the form of probability density functions. The primary goal of the thesis is to design the fusion of probability density functions in the chosen nonparametric representation, namely in the particle representation. Besides the basic estimation problem, the constrained estimation problem is also considered, that is the problem of exploiting the information arising from an unmodelled problem context. The secondary goal is to generalise the definition of conservative point estimates and to analyse the proposed definition. This goal also includes a generalisation of the corresponding fusion rules. A general discourse on the information fusion starts the thesis, the following chapter presents the basics of the dynamic stochastic system state estimation problem, including the multisensor estimation. After the discussion of the current state of the art of the probability density fusion problem, the goals of the thesis are determined. The primary goal is fulfilled by designing such particles that thoroughly represent the corresponding marginal probability densities and that share the same samples. The secondary goal is fulfilled by using elementary information measures and by a direct derivation from the proposed definition. The achieved theoretical results are illustated by numerical examples.
