Motivational interviewing as a tool for teachers working with youth at risk of behavioral disorders

Abstract:

Předkládaná bakalářská práce se věnuje tématu individuálního poradenství při práci učitelů s dětmi v riziku vzniku poruchy chování. Cílem práce je prozkoumat možnosti využití motivačních rozhovorů při práci s žáky, kteří se nacházejí v riziku vzniku poruchy chování. Bakalářská práce má teoreticko – empirický charakter a je rozdělena do tří kapitol. První kapitola pojednává o teorii poruchy chování, jsou zde rozebírány faktory, které ovlivňují vznik poruchy chování. Dále se pak práce zaměřuje na školní prostředí, současné inkluzivní trendy ve školství a jejich implikaci do školního poradenství. Druhá kapitola představuje komunikační přístup nazývaný motivační rozhovory a hledá jejich návaznost na inkluzivní vzdělávání. Tyto dvě kapitoly poskytují potřebná teoretická východiska pro třetí část, kterou tvoří výzkumné šetření zabývající se problematikou individuální práce učitelů s žáky na druhém stupni základních škol. Toto výzkumné šetření má charakter kvalitativního výzkumu. Jeho cílem je zmapovat způsoby práce, které učitelé využívají při individuální práci s žákem a s jakými problémy se potýkají. Výzkumné šetření odhalilo nejistotu učitelů při individuální práci, frustraci, kterou díky tomu zažívají, a ukázalo potřebu najít efektivní strategie, které by mohli učitelé používat. V závěru práce je pak navržena právě jako jedna taková strategie využití motivačních rozhovorů.

Abstract:

The presented thesis focuses on the topic of individual counseling in teachers work with children at risk of behavioral disorders. The aim is to explore the possibility of using motivational interviewing at work with students who are at risk of developing behavioral disorders. The thesis has theoretical - empirical character and is divided into three chapters. The first chapter deals with the theory of behavioral disorders, there are analysis of factors that influence the emergence of behavioral disorders. Furthermore, the work focuses on the school environment, current trends in inclusive education and their implications in school counseling. The second chapter presents the communication approach called Motivational talks and seeks their relation to inclusive education. These two chapters provide the necessary theoretical basis for the third part, which consists of research survey dealing with individual teachers work with students of older schooling age. This research survey has a character of a qualitative research. Its aim is to explore ways of work that teachers use in individual work with the student and what problems they face. The research survey revealed teachers uncertainty in individual work, the frustration that they face thanks to this experience, and demonstrated the need to find effective strategies that could teachers use. The conclusion is then designed just as one such strategy of usage of motivational interviewing.
