Educational migration of students from Litoměřice and Ústí nad Labem in the 16th and early 17th centuries

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá nedostatečně prozkoumanými migracemi rodáků z Litoměřic a Ústí nad Labem za preuniverzitním a univerzitním vzděláním v předbělohorské době, a to jak v rámci českých zemí, tak i mimo ně. Na základě analýzy pramenů různého druhu (egodokumenty, matriky, literární prameny ad.) se pokouší nejen objasnit některé obecné otázky související s takovým výzkumem, ale zejména podchytit hlavní cíle uvedených migrací v Čechách i na Moravě, ale zejména pak v zahraničí, ale také zodpovědět řadu dílčích otázek: příčiny migrací, jejich proměny v průběhu sledované doby, typy studií, jimž se věnovali, jejich každodenní zajištění, jejich vliv na další kariéry či dopady v jiných oblastech (literární činnost, učenecké i další kontakty, knihovny apod.)

Abstract:

My bachelor's thesis deals with the topic that hasn´t been properly researched yet - that is the migrations of the natives of Litoměřice and Ústí nad Labem who searched for pre-university and university education in the period before the Battle of White Mountain, both within and outside the Czech lands. Based on the analysis of various kinds of sources (such as ego-documents, registers, literary sources, etc. ), it attempts not only to clarify some general questions related to such research, but it also aims to grasp the main objectives of these migrations in Bohemia and Moravia, but most importantly abroad. My thesis also tries to answer a number of sub-questions such as the causes of the migrations, their changes during the observed period, the types of studies they pursued, the provision of their daily needs, their influence on future career choices or their impact in other areas (literary work, academic and other contacts, libraries, etc.)
