Relationship between the soil seed bank and actual vegetation on meadows and fallows in the Podyjí National Park

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se věnuje vegetaci a půdní semenné bance na opuštěných polích v Národním parku Podyjí na jižní Moravě. Cílem bylo srovnat druhové složení aktuální vegetace a půdní semenné banky. Bylo vybráno celkem pět lokalit, které byly rozděleny na tři části s různým typem managementu. V první části docházelo ke každoročnímu orání na jaře, druhá část byla zorána pouze v roce 2009 a poslední část zůstala bez orání. V průběhu let 2010 a 2011 probíhalo na jaře a v létě fytocenologické snímkování za použití Braun-Blanquetovy stupnice abundance a dominance. Zjišťování půdní semenné banky bylo prováděno pomocí kultivace ve skleníku a následným přeséváním vzorků pro zachycení zbylých semen. Získaná data byla zadána do programu TURBOVEG a posléze analyzována v programu R. Před analýzami byla data logaritmicky ztransformována. Byly využity analýzy nemetrického mnohorozměrného škálování (NMDS), kanonická korespondenční analýza (CCA), byly určeny indikační druhy jednotlivých stanovišť s různým typem managementu a dále bylo testováno zda existují signifikantní rozdíly mezi různými charakteristikami. Celkem bylo ve vegetaci zaznamenáno 260 druhů vyšších rostlin. Snímky pocházející z louky se výrazně lišily od ostatních, některé snímky se také výrazně lišily podle lokality. Každé období mělo jiný počet signifikantně indikačních druhů, nejvyšší počet byl nalezen pro jarní aspekt, společenstva úhorů měly podstatně menší počet indikačních druhů. Bylo nalezeno pouze 14 signifikantně indikačních druhů půdní semenné banky. Čistý vliv managementu na diversitu stanoviště se v rámci obou let pohyboval mezi 8,7 – 9,9%. Větší vliv na diversitu má lokalita - okolo 23%. Čistý vliv managementu na diversitu půdní semenné banky je 3,7%. Lokalita ovlivňuje diversitu půdní semenné banky 18,5%. Celkový počet druhů v půdní semenné bance byl 152. Téměř třetina semen byla zachycena jak kultivační, tak přesévací metodou. Pouze 14 druhů nevyklíčilo a bylo zachyceno pouze přeséváním. Asi třetina těchto druhů je tvořena stromy a keři. Při kultivaci vzcházely některé semenáčky ve velkých počtech - například Hypericum perforatum (390 jedinců), Juncus bufonius (306 jedinců) a Chenopodium polyspermum (189 jedinců). Počet semen v semenné bance v části louka se signifikantně liší od managementu oraná plocha. Mezi počtem druhů na plochách s různým managementem nebyl nalezen signifikantní rozdíl. Existuje ovšem signifikantní rozdíl v počtu druhů na různých lokalitách. Pouze 33 druhů (11%) bylo nalezenou pouze v půdní semenné bance zatímco 142 druhů (49%) bylo nalezeno pouze ve vegetaci. Okolo poloviny druhů (40%) bylo nalezeno jak ve vegetaci tak v půdní semenné bance. V semenné bance nebyl nalezen větší podíl ohrožených či chráněných druhů. Mezi druhy přítomnými pouze v půdní semenné bance byly nalezeny pouze dva ohrožené druhy Linaria genistifolia (C3) a Myosurus minimus (C3), což bylo méně než bylo očekáváno.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to focus on the vegetation and the soil seed bank of abandoned fields in the National park of Podyjí which is located in southern Moravia. The thesis also deals with the comparison of the composition of the current vegetation and the soil seed bank. Five localities were chosen. They were divided into three parts with a different management. The first part was ploughed every year in spring; the second part was ploughed only once in 2009 and the third part was left withought ploughing. In 2010 and 2011 a fytocenolical survey using Braun-Blanquet scale of abundancy and dominance was done. The determination of the composition of the soil seed bank was carried out by cultivation in the greenhouse and consequent sifting to detect all of the seeds. The gathered data was entered into the programme called TURBOVEG and then analyzed in the programme R. Logaritmic transformation was used before the analysis. Nonmetric multidimensional scaling (NMDS) and canonical corespondense analyses (CCA) were used. We defined the indication species for each site with different management and also tested if there were significant diferences between the sites with different characteristics. In total 260 species of plants in the vegetation were found. Fytocenological records of unploughed sites differs from the others and some of the records differ according to the locality. Each season of survey has a different number of significantly indicating species. The biggest amount was found out in the spring aspects. The community of fallows has a ubstantially lower number of indicating species. Only 14 species were found in the soil seed bank. A straight influence of the management on the diversity was in the two seasons between 8.7 – 9.9%. Locality has a larger infuence on diversity - about 23%. Influence of the management on the diversity of the soil seed bank was only 3,7%. The locality has a 18.5% influence on the soil seed bank . In total we found 154 of plant species in the soil seed bank. Almost one third of them was cought using the method of cultivation as well as sifting. Only 14 plant species did not germinate and were cought only by sifting. Obout one third of this species were trees and shrubs. During the cultivation some of the species germinated in large numbers, for example Hypericum perforatum (390 seedlings), Juncus bufonius (306 seedlings) and Chenopodium polyspermum (189 seedlings). The number of seeds in the soil seed bank in the unploughed site significantly differs from the soil seed bank in the site plought in 2006. No significant differences were found between the number of species on sites with different management . There is a significant difference in the number of species in different localities. Only 33 species (11%) were found strictly in the soil seed bank: 142 species(49%) were found only in the vegetation and about 40% species were found in both the soil seed bank and the vegetation. There were found no large amounts of seeds of endangered or protected species in the soil seed bank. There were only two of them Linaria genistifolia (C3) and Myosurus minimus (C3).
