The Role of Grandparents in Raising Preschool-Age Children

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá rolí prarodičů ve výchově dětí předškolního věku. Cílem práce bylo zjistit, jak svou roli ve výchově předškolních dětí vnímají samotní prarodiče a jak tuto roli naplňují. Práce je rozdělena na teoretickou a praktickou část. Teoretická část shrnuje poznatky o výchově dítěte v rodině a roli, kterou zde prarodič zastává. Praktická část se zabývá výzkumným šetřením. Jedná se o kvalitativní výzkum, který probíhal formou polostrukturovaného interview s prarodiči dětí předškolního věku. Následuje zpracování výzkumných dat formou otevřeného kódování a také jejich interpretace. Výzkumná zjištění poukazují na roli, kterou prarodiče při výchově dětí předškolního věku, zastávají. Zároveň také odhalují různé faktory a konflikty, které do naplňování této role mohou vstupovat.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the role of grandparents in the upbringing of preschool children. The aim of the thesis was to find out how grandparents perceive their role in the upbringing of preschool children and how they fulfill this role. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part summarizes the knowledge about child upbringing within the family and the role that grandparents play in it. The practical part deals with research investigation. It is a qualitative study conducted through semi-structured interviews with grandparents of preschool children. This is followed by the processing of research data through open-coding and their interpretation. Research findings highlight the role that grandparents play in the upbringing of preschool-age children. At the same time, they also reveal various factors and conflicts that may arise in fulfilling this role.
