Point and interval estimations of the parameter of the alternative distribution

Abstract:

Tato práce se věnuje alternativnímu rozdělení a náhodným výběrům z tohoto rozdělení s cílem poskytnout přehled několika metod pro bodové a intervalové odhady jeho parametru. Podrobně jsou zkoumány metoda momentů, metoda maximální věrohodnosti, Waldův a Wilsonův intervalový odhad, a to ve variantách s korekcí na spojitost i bez ní. Každá z metod je odvozena a posouzena z hlediska předností, nedostatků a některých kritérií pro hodnocení kvality odhadu. Práce se dále zabývá testováním statistických hypotéz o parametrech dvou nezávislých náhodných veličin z alternativního rozdělení. V praktické části je teorie aplikována na data týkající se syndromu vyhoření u učitelů z alternativních a tradičních základních škol. Výsledkem práce je porovnání metod odhadu parametru a demonstrace testování hypotéz.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on the alternative distribution and random sampling from this distribution, providing an overview of different methods for making point and interval estimations of its parameter. The method of moments, maximum likelihood estimation, Wald and Wilson interval estimates, both with and without continuity correction, are thoroughly examined. Each approach is derived and evaluated in terms of its strengths, flaws, and some criteria for determining the quality of the estimate. The thesis also examines the two-sample hypothesis testing in alternative distributions. In the practical section, the theory is applied to data on burnout syndrome among teachers in alternative and traditional primary schools. Using these data, the thesis shows a comparison of parameter estimate methods, and illustrates hypothesis testing.
