A Contrastive Study of English and Czech Idioms
Abstract:
Tato bakalářská diplomová práce porovnává anglické idiomy s jejich českými ekvivalenty. Práce se zaměřuje na idiomy, které v anglickém jazyce obsahují "ear" (ucho) a "nose" (nos). Tato práce porovnává idiomy sesbírané z mnoha slovníků a popisuje, co mají idiomy společného v angličtině a češtině a ukazuje, čím se idiomy v těchto dvou jazycích liší.
Abstract:
This bachelor’s diploma thesis is a comparison of English idioms and their Czech equivalents. The thesis focuses on idioms that contain lexemes “ear” or “nose” in English language. This thesis compares idioms collected from various dictionaries and describes what idioms in English and Czech have in common and it shows the differences between them in the two languages.
