Characteristic of the interview genre on the topic of discrimination. Set of interviews with Muslims living in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá charakteristikou žánru interview na tématu diskriminace muslimů v České republice v kontextu Evropské unie. Rozhovory jsou určeny pro deník Lidové noviny. Teoretická část obsahuje vymezení žánru interview, mapuje historii muslimů žijících na území Evropy a České republiky a charakterizuje cílové publikum. Praktická část se skládá z pěti interview s „českými“ muslimy, kritické reflexe věnované především formě realizovaných rozhovorů a závěrečného zhodnocení práce. Vedlejším produktem práce je nastolení agendy diskriminace muslimů, která je i přes svou aktuálnost mediálně opomíjeným tématem.

Abstract:

The work deals with the characteristic of the interview genre on the topic of discrimination of Muslims in Czech Republic in the context of European Union. The interviews are created for the newspaper Lidové noviny. In the theoretical part we find the definition of the subject interview and it describes the history of Muslims living in Europe and Czech Republic. In this part the target readers are characterized. There are five interviews with “Czech” Muslims in the practical part, critical reflection devoted mostly to the form of the interview and final evaluation of this work. The side effect of the work is the agenda setting of Muslims´ discrimination, which is often neglected in the media though being a major global issue.
