Job satisfaction among nurses

Abstract:

Cíl: Cílem bakalářské práce bylo zmapovat míru pracovní spokojenosti všeobecných sester ve třech vybraných nemocnicích v České republice. Tento průzkum se snažil zjistit postoj sester ke své práci a zkoumal, jaká psychická a fyzická náročnost je na sestry vyvíjena. Metodika: Zkoumaný soubor tvořilo 102 všeobecných sester pracujících na standardních oddělení ve Fakultní nemocnici v Motole, krajské nemocnici Frýdek-Místek a soukromé nemocnici Nový Jičín, a. s. Průzkumné šetření bylo prováděno v období od 1. 2. do 25. 3. 2019 pomocí dotazníku vlastní konstrukce. Výsledky: Z šetření provedené autorkou bakalářské práce bylo zjištěno, že všeobecné sestry hodnotí svou pracovní spokojenost jako nadprůměrnou. Nejspokojenější sestry pracují ve Fakultní nemocnici v Motole na interním oddělení. Spokojenost na pracovišti převládala nad spokojeností se stylem řízení organizace. Největší nespokojenost sester souvisela s nedostatkem pomocného personálu pod přímým vedením. Nejvíce sestry k výkonu jejich povolání motivuje možnost pomáhat lidem. Celková psychická i fyzická zátěž byla sestrami hodnocena nadprůměrně. Sestry se často cítí během svého typického týdne přepracované nebo ve stresu. Závěr: Průzkum prokázal, že všeobecné sestry jsou spokojené se svou prací i přes rizikové faktory, náročnost povolaní a nedostatek personálu. Mezi jednotlivými nemocnicemi a klinickými odděleními existují rozdíly. Pozitivním zjištěním je, že sestry neuvažují o odchodu ze zaměstnání a chtějí ve zdravotnictví i nadále setrvat. Abstract:

Aim: The aim of the bachelor thesis was to map the level of job satisfaction of general nurses in three selected hospitals in the Czech Republic. The survey tried to find out the attitude of nurses to their work and it looked into the psychological and physical demands on nurses. Methods: The focus group consisted of 102 general nurses working in standard departments at the Motol University Hospital, the regional Hospital Frýdek-Místek and the private hospital Nový Jičín. The survey was conducted in the period from 1st of February to 25th March 2019 using a self-constructed questionnaire. Results: The survey conducted by the author of this bachelor thesis found out that nurses evaluate their work satisfaction above average. The most satisfied nurses work at the Motol University Hospital in the internal department. Their satisfaction with the workplace was higher than the satisfaction with the management style of the organization. Their greatest dissatisfaction was related to the lack of support staff. Most of the nurses are motivated by their ability to help people. Nurses evaluated the total physical and mental strain as above average. They often feel overworked and stressed during their usual workweek. Conclusion: This survey showed that general nurses are satisfied with their work despite the risk factors, the difficulty of the profession and the lack of staff. There are differences between individual hospitals and clinics departments. Positive finding is that nurses are not considering leaving their jobs and want to remain in the field of health care.
