Children's psychological diagnostics in process of cochlear implantations

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá psychologickou diagnostikou u dětí v procesu kochleární implantace. V teoretické části bylo mým cílem seznámit čtenáře s danou problematikou tak, abychom následně mohli pochopit celý proces implantace. Zaměřuji se na diferenciaci sluchových vad, popis kochleární implantace a samotnou psychologickou diagnostiku. Cílem výzkumné části bylo popsat příběhy dětských kandidátů, kteří byli doporučeni k psychologickému zhodnocení základních kritérií pro získání implantátu. Výzkumný soubor tvořily tří dětí v předškolním věku z toho byli dva chlapci a jedna dívka. Na závěr byly údaje z jednotlivých případových studii analyzovány a porovnávány mezi sebou. Výsledky ukázaly obraz dětí, které splnily psychologická kritéria a staly se tak vhodnými kandidáty pro kochleární implantaci.

Abstract:

This thesis describes the psychological diagnostics in children during the cochlear implant acquisition process. In the theoretical part, my goal was to present the problems to readers for them to be fully able to understand the entire implantation process. I focus on the differentiation of the types of hearing impairment, the description of implantation and the psychological diagnostics itself. The goal of the research part of this thesis was to tell and describe the stories of young candidates, which had been recommended for the psychological assessment of basic criteria for acquiring a cochlear implant. In the research group, there were three children in preschool age - two boys and a girl. In the end, the data of each case study were summarized and compared with each other. The results have shown that all of the children were collaborative and strongly motivated to communicate. Their intellect levels ranged from low-average to high-average. The parents also collaborated very well with the expert team. Therefore, the children had met all the requirements to acquire a cochlear implant
