The presence of mosses in the diet of groundhoppers of genus Tetrix under different air humidity conditions

Abstract:

Cílem práce bylo zjistit, jak se mění kvantitativní a kvalitativní složení potravy v trávicích traktech marší Tetrix ceperoi a Tetrix tenuicornis při měnící se vlhkosti prostředí. Pro kvalitativní analýzu bylo celkem připraveno 160 preparátů trávicích traktů marší (80 vzorků Tetrix ceperoi a 80 vzorků Tetrix tenuicornis). Marše byly chovány v insektáriích při vlhkostech 78, 90, 93 a 94. Při každé vlhkosti byl v trávicích traktech marší dominantním mechem Bryum caespiticium. Kvantitativní analýza byla provedena u 80 jedinců (40 jedinců Tetrix ceperoi a 40 jedinců Tetrix tenuicornis). Programem BaDra 1.3 bylo metodami analýzy obrazu vyhodnoceno množství mechu, množství detritu a jejich vzájemný podíl v potravě Tetrix ceperoi a Tetrix tenuicornis při měnící se vlhkosti. Samice konzumovaly více detritu i mechu než samci. Jedinci Tetrix tenuicornis konzumovali více detritu i více mechu, než jedinci Tetrix ceperoi. Při rostoucí vlhkosti, rostlo také množství mechu i detritu v trávicích traktech marší.

Abstract:

The aim of this study was to determine influence of different humidity on the quantitative and qualitative composition of food in the digestive tracts in groundhoppers Tetrix ceperoi and Tetrix tenuicornis. Totaly 160 individuals of groundhoppers (80 individuals Tetrix ceperoi and 80 individuals Tetrix tenuicornis) were used for qualitative analysis. Grounghoppers were kept in four insectariums with different relative air humidity (78, 90, 93 and 94). Dominant moss in the digestive tracts of groundhoppers was Bryum caespiticium at each humidity. Quantitative analysis was made in 80 individuals (40 individuals Tetrix ceperoi and 40 individuals Tetrix tenuicornis). By image analysis software BaDra 1.3 was evaluated quantity of moss, quantity of detritus and their rate in food of both Tetrix species. Females consumed more detritus and more moss than males. Tetrix tenuicornis consumed more detritus and more moss than Tetrix ceperoi. The quantity of moss as well as detritus grew in coincidence growing humidity.
