Methodology for evaluation of print-through on thin printing papers

Abstract:

Cílem práce bylo ověřit metodiku testování prorážení tiskové barvy na různých typech tenkých tiskových papírů. Bylo testováno čtrnáct druhů tenkých tiskových papírů o plošné hmotnosti 40 g/m2. Tyto papíry byly dodány firmou OP papírna s.r.o. Tenké tiskové papíry byly potištěny na laboratorním potiskovacím zařízení. Byly provedeny čtyři série testování prorážení tiskové barvy. Stanovení prorážení z naměřených dat bylo provedeno různými metodami. Měřeny byly optické hustoty tisku, optické hustoty spodní strany tisku, světelný činitel odrazu, souřadnice L*a*b* a L*C*h. V první sérii testování bylo prorážení tiskové barvy hodnoceno v souladu s normou SCAN-P 36:02 Evaluation od test prints a měřením optické hustoty spodní strany tisku se stejným dávkováním barvy u všech papírů. Hodnocení prorážení tiskové barvy druhé série bylo provedeno totožně, ale s odlišným dávkováním barvy. Třetí série byla provedena s jinou sadou vzorků, které se lišily formací papíru, dávkování barvy bylo stejné u všech papírů. Ve čtvrté sérii byly hodnoceny vybrané papíry z předešlých testování a hodnocení prorážení tiskové barvy bylo provedeno všemi vybranými metodami testování, bylo použito stejné dávkování barvy u všech papírů. Pro vizuální hodnocení prorážení tiskové barvy byly vyfotografovány spodní strany potištěných vzorků a pořízeny snímky mikroskopem.

Abstract:

The aim of the work was to verify the methodology of testing print-through on different types of thin printing papers. Fourteen types of thin printing papers of 40 g/m2 were tested. These papers were supplied by OP papírna s.r.o. The thin printing papers were printed on a laboratory printing device. Four series of ink penetration tests were carried out. Determination of the print-through from the measured data was carried out by different methods. The optical densities of the print, the optical densities of the underside of the print, the light scattering coefficient, the L*a*b* and L*C*h coordinates were measured. In the first series of tests, the print-through was evaluated in accordance with SCAN-P 36:02 Evaluation of test prints and measuring the optical density of the underside of the print with the same ink dosage for all papers. The evaluation of the print-through of the second series was performed identically but with a different ink dosage. The third series was performed with a different set of samples that differed in paper formation, the ink dosage being the same for all papers. In the fourth series, selected papers from the previous testing were evaluated and the evaluation of the print-through was performed with all selected testing methods, the same ink dosage was used for all papers. For visual evaluation of the print-through, the undersides of the printed samples were photographed and microscope images were taken.
