Integration of young adults with physical disabilities cased by injuries

Abstract:

Práce se pokouší analyzovat, v jakých oblastech a v jaké intenzitě může sport přispívat k sociální integraci jedince s postižením. Na případu neziskové organizace KONTAKT bB (Kontakt bez bariér), která vyučuje a realizuje plavání osob s postižením, se snažím demonstrovat, že koncept ucelené rehabilitace může být poměrně efektivně naplňován i „zdola“, za spolupráce organizace a rodiny. Na základě kvalitativního výzkumu popisuji přínos sportu pro integraci jedinců s postižením zejména v oblasti formování nové identity, v oblasti rozšíření a zkvalitnění sociálních kontaktů a ve zvětšení prostoru, v němž se jedinec s postižením zvládá pohybovat. Jako určité riziko integrace naopak vidím přílišnou akcentaci sportovních výkonů jedince s postižením a uzavřenost či sebestřednost organizace.

Abstract:

The work tries to analyze in which areas and at which intensity sport may contribute to the social integration of persons with physical disabilities. On the case of the non-profit organization KONTAKT bB (Contact without barriers), which teaches and realizes swimming of persons with disabilities, this thesis tries to demonstrate that the concept of comprehensive rehabilitation can be relatively effectively fulfilled „from below“, with the cooperation of a sport organization and family.On the basis of a qualitative research the thesis describes the benefit of sport for the integration of physically disabled persons, especially in the area of forming a new identity, widening and improving social contacts and enlarging the space in which the handicapped person can move. However, the potential risks of the integration include excessive accentuation of the sport results of persons with disabilities, as well as seclusion and self-centredness of the organization.
