The Patriotic and Nationalistic tendencies of the second grade pupils and grammar school students

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá tématem vlastenectví a nacionalismu z pohledu žáků osmých a devátých tříd základních škol a žáků tercií a kvart víceletých gymnázií. Práce je členěna na teoretickou a praktickou část. Teoretická část blíže popisuje a seznamuje s pojmy, jež jsou úzce spjaty se zkoumanou problematikou. Obsahem teoretických informací je i historický vývoj vlastenectví v českých zemích skrze důležité historické události, role školy při utváření vlasteneckých hodnot v minulosti až po současnost a také pohled na nacionalismus očima E. Gellnera a A. Heywooda. Teoretickým základem pro následující empirickou část práce je především blíže probádaný současný stav zkoumané problematiky, který nabízí údaje z výzkumů vysokoškolských studentů a mezinárodních šetření. V praktické části je realizován výzkum pomocí dotazníkového šetření, který následně graficky zpracovává a interpretuje získané informace respondentů základních škol a víceletých gymnázií, jež jsou mezi sebou vzájemně porovnávány. Závěr práce je věnován shrnutí výsledných zjištění a rovněž i zodpovězení předem stanovených výzkumných otázek.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the topic of patriotism and nationalism from the eight and ninth grade elementary school pupils' as well as multi-year grammar school pupils' point of view. The thesis is divided into two parts, and so theoretical and practical. The theoretical part describes in more detail and introduces the concepts that are closely related to the researched issues. The content of theoretical information is also the historical development of patriotism in the Czech lands through important historical events. It also explains the role of the school in shaping patriotic values in the past to the present, as well as the view of nationalism through the eyes of E. Gellner and A. Heywood. The theoretical basis for the following empirical part of the work is mainly a more detailed study of the current state of the researched issues. This current issues' state offers data from university student research and international surveys. The practical part is composed of research using a questionnaire survey, which then graphically processes and interprets the information obtained by elementary schools and multi-year grammar schools respondents. The information obtained is then compared with each other as well. The conclusion of the thesis is devoted to a summary of the resulting findings as well as to the answers of predetermined research questions.
