Comparison of external and internal factors of motivation in high school students to perform a practical nurse

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá komparací motivačních faktorů studentů středních zdravotnických škol při budoucím povolání praktické sestry. Cílem výzkumu bylo zjistit vzájemný vztah mezi vnitřními a vnějšími motivačními faktory při výběru budoucího povolání praktické sestry u studentů v I. ročníku a následně studentů ve IV. ročníku středních zdravotnických škol. Dále zmapovat faktory (školní, osobní i společenské), které ovlivňují studenty středních zdravotnických škol při výběru studia budoucího povolání. Na základě stanovených dílčích cílů bylo ověřeno, zda mají vnější motivační faktory (finanční stránka výkonu povolání, prestiž povolání, vliv rodiny, příbuzných, kamarádů, vyhledávání nové pozice, uplatnění) významný vliv na výběr studia než faktory vnitřní (touha pomáhat lidem, mírnit utrpení lidí, vlastní přesvědčení, altruismus, seberealizace atd.). Otázkou bylo, zda délka studia ovlivňuje další profesní život respondentů, jak významně se mění očekávání studentů v průběhu studia na střední zdravotnické škole a proč odmítají někteří absolventi nastoupit k výkonu svého povolání, na které se připravovali během svého čtyřletého studia. Data byla sbírána prostřednictvím kvantitativního průzkumu formou dotazníkového šetření, kdy bylo vyhodnoceno celkem 108 dotazníků respondentů dvou středních zdravotnických škol a následně vyhodnocena pomocí statistické metody Personova testu dobré shody (chíkvadrát). Výsledkem práce jsou doporučení a opatření směřující ke zlepšení situace v oblasti počtu personálu nelékařských pracovníků ve zdravotnických zařízeních, jelikož bylo ověřeno, že vnější motivační faktory mají statisticky významný vliv na výběr studia a jeho úspěšné ukončení.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the comparison of motivational factors of students of secondary medical schools in the future profession of a practical nurse. The aim of the research was to determine the mutual relationship between internal and external motivational factors in the choice of the future profession of practical nurse among students in the 1st year and subsequently students in the 4th year. year of secondary medical schools. Furthermore, to map the factors (scholastic, personal and social) that influence secondary health school students when choosing to study a future profession. On the basis of the set sub-goals, it was verified whether external motivational factors (the financial side of the profession, the prestige of the profession, the influence of family, relatives, friends, searching for a new position, applying) have a significant influence on the choice of study than internal factors (the desire to help people, alleviate suffering people, own beliefs, altruism, self-realization, etc.). The question was whether the length of the study affects the further professional life of the respondents, how significantly the expectations of students change during their studies at the secondary medical school and why some graduates refuse to take up the profession for which they were preparing during their four-year study. The data was collected through a quantitative survey in the form of a questionnaire survey, when a total of 108 questionnaires from respondents of two secondary medical schools were evaluated and subsequently evaluated using the statistical method of Person's goodness-of-fit test (chi-square). The result of the work are recommendations and measures aimed at improving the situation in the area of the number of non-medical personnel in healthcare facilities, as it has been verified that external motivational factors have a statistically significant influence on the choice of study and its successful completion
