Toxic relationships and depression

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na propojení toxických partnerských vztahů a deprese. Cílem práce bylo porozumět, jakým způsobem se toxická dynamika ve vztazích podílí na rozvoji a udržování depresivních symptomů, a jak depresivní porucha ovlivňuje kvalitu partnerského soužití. Teoretická část shrnuje současné poznatky o charakteristice toxických vztahů, projevech deprese a jejich vzájemných souvislostech. Výzkumná část byla realizována pomocí kvalitativního přístupu; data byla získána prostřednictvím polostrukturovaných rozhovorů s šesti participanty a analyzována pomocí reflexivní tematické analýzy. Výsledky ukazují, že toxické vztahy a deprese spolu vstupují do vzájemné interakce - vztahová dysfunkce a depresivní symptomy se vzájemně ovlivňují a mohou se navzájem zesilovat. Tato dynamika je dále ovlivňována řadou individuálních i vztahových faktorů, které práce dále rozpracovává.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis focuses on the interconnection between toxic intimate relationships and depression. The aim of the study was to understand how toxic relationship dynamics contribute to the development and maintenance of depressive symptoms, and how depressive disorder affects the quality of intimate relationships. The theoretical part summarizes current knowledge on the characteristics of toxic relationships, manifestations of depression, and their mutual interrelations. The research part was conducted using a qualitative approach; data were collected through semi-structured interviews with six participants and analyzed using reflexive thematic analysis. The results show that toxic relationships and depression enter into a mutual interaction - dysfunctional relational patterns and depressive symptoms influence one another and may reinforce each other. This dynamic is further influenced by a range of individual and relational factors, which are further elaborated on in the thesis.
