European dimension in civics at elementary and secondary grammar schools in Ostrava

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na evropskou dimenzi ve výuce občanské výchovy. Teoretická část se zabývá vývojem evropské dimenze ve vzdělávání a jejím pojetím, zaměřili jsme se také na odbornou přípravu učitelů a zmínili jsme zde několik příkladů implementace evropské dimenze v zahraničních školských systémech. Nezbytnou součástí této teoretické části je kapitola, která se týká zavedení ?výchovy k evropanství? do českého vzdělávacího systému, nebo-li promítnutí evropské dimenze do učebních osnov a rámcového vzdělávacího programu. Empirická část sestává z interpretace výzkumu zjišťujícího vědomosti žáků základních škol a víceletých gymnázií o Evropské unii včetně jejich názorů a postojů k Evropě a evropanství. Výzkum byl realizován od listopadu 2009 do únoru 2010, na vzorku 240 žáků. Výzkum se uskutečnil formou dotazníku, který byl rozdán v devátých ročnících základních škol a ve čtvrtých ročnících víceletých gymnázií.

Abstract:

The thesis is focused on the European dimension in the tuition of civics. The theoretical part concerns itself with the development of the European dimension in education and its concept. We also analysed the professional preparation of teachers and mentioned several examples of the inclusion of the European dimension in foreign educational systems. An integral part of this theoretical part is the chapter, which deals with the inclusion of ?education towards Europeanism? in the Czech educational system, specifically the projection of the European dimension into the curricula and the general educational programme. The empirical part consists of the interpretation of research aimed at ascertaining the knowledge of elementary school and secondary grammar school pupils and students about the European Union, and their views and attitudes towards Europe and Europeanism. The research programme was realized from November 2009 to February 2010 on a sample of 240 pupils and students. The research was based on a questionnaire, and the respondents were ninth-form pupils of elementary schools and fourth-form students of secondary grammar schools.
