V dnešní době představuje těžba štěrkopísků dynamicky se rozvíjející se odvětví těžebního průmyslu. Těžba, která probíhá v nivách velkých toků, se projevuje nejen na rázu krajiny, ale také na přírodních procesech, které zde probíhají. Nowadays mining of gravel represents dynamically developing area of mining industry. Mining affects not only countryside but also natural processes. It affects primarily height of groundwater levels which are dropping off in the upper are of mining and on contrary increase in the lower part of mining.
