Tato práce si klade za cíl porovnat sbírky pohádek Oscara Wilda „Šťastný princ a jiné pohádky“ z roku 1888, „Dům granátových jablek“ z roku 1891 a jeho eseje a přednášky jmenovitě „Úpadek lhaní", „Kritik jako umělec" a „Lidská duše za socialismu" z hlediska aspektů estetismu, fin de siècle dekadence a irského odkazu. This thesis aims to compare the aspects of aestheticism, fin de siècle decadence and Irishness in Oscar Wilde’s collections of fairy tales, The Happy Prince and Other Tales (1888) and A House of Pomegranates (1891), with those his essays and lectures, namely, “The Decay of Lying”, “The Critic as Artist” and “The Soul of Man under Socialism”.
