The lexicon of participants in international foreign operations and observation missions (field research)

Abstract:

Diplomová práce zkoumá specifickou mluvu užívanou příslušníky Armády České republiky na zahraniční misi v Afghánistánu. Jedním z hlavních výstupů je alfabeticky řazený slovník čítající celkem 258 sociolektismů. Prezentovaný materiál se nám podařilo sesbírat kvalitativní formou v rámci rozhovorů s vojenskými příslušníky během mise v Afghánistánu nebo bezprostředně po ní. Nedílnou součástí práce je rovněž výzkum, jehož záměrem bylo zjistit, jakou funkci představuje vojenská mluva pro její uživatele. Předmětné dotazníkové šetření probíhalo od května do září 2019 na základně Bagrám v Afghánistánu a zúčastnilo se ho celkem 50 příslušníků AČR. V teoretických pasážích našeho pojednání přibližujeme problematiku vymezení sociolektu, charakterizujeme vojenskou mluvu a její specifika, nezapomínáme rovněž na způsoby tvoření daných sociolektismů. Ke zvýšení čtenářského komfortu přikládáme základní informace o specifickém prostředí, které bylo předmětem našeho zájmu. V praktické části pak popisujeme průběh samotného terénního šetření a prezentujeme vyhodnocená data.

Abstract:

This thesis examines the specific language used by members of the Army of the Czech Republic on a foreign mission in Afghanistan. One of the main outcomes is an alphabetically arranged dictionary with a total of 258 sociolects. We managed to collect the presented material in a qualitative form by carrying out interviews with military personnel during the mission in Afghanistan or immediately after it. An integral part of the thesis is research aimed at learning what function military speech represents for its users. The subject questionnaire survey was conducted from May to September 2019 at the Bagram base in Afghanistan and was taken by a total of 50 members of the Army. In the theoretical passages of our work we approach the issue of the definition of sociolect, we characterize military speech and its specifics, and we also do not neglect the manner in which the given sociolects are created. To facilitate reading, we attach basic information about the specific environment that was the subject of our interest. In the practical part, we describe the course of the field survey itself and present the evaluated data.
