Specifics of communication with the mentally disabled child client in social work

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce nese název Specifika komunikace s dětským klientem s mentálním postižením v sociální práci. Cílem práce je popsat specifika komunikace s dětským klientem s mentálním postižením, pojmenovat komunikační bariéry, které mohou nastat a navrhnout možnosti, jak jim předejít. V první kapitole se zabývám obecně komunikací, charakterizuji verbální a neverbální komunikaci. V druhé kapitole se věnuji mentálnímu postižení, kde definuji pojmy, vážící se k této problematice. V následující kapitole se věnuji sociální práci s dětmi s mentálním postižením. V poslední kapitole popisuji specifika komunikace s dětskými klienty s mentálním postižením, zaměřuji se na alternativní a augmentativní komunikaci, v poslední části kapitoly pojmenovávám komunikační bariéry v komunikaci s dětskými klienty s mentálním postižením a navrhuji možnosti, jak jim předejít.

Abstract:

This bachelor?s thesis is called Specifics of communication with the mentally disabled child client in social work. The aim of the thesis is to describe the specifics of communication with a child client with mental disability, to name the communication barriers that may occur and to suggest ways to avoid them. In the first chapter, I focus on communication in general and I characterize verbal and non-verbal communication. In the second chapter, I concentrate on mental disability, where I define terms connected to this issue. In the following chapter, I focus on social work with children with mental disability. In the last chapter, I describe the specifics of communication with child clients with mental disability, I concentrate on alternative and augmentative communication, and in the final part of the chapter I name communication barriers in communication with child clients with mental disability and suggest ways to avoid them.
