Stress and Job Satisfaction in Employees in the Police Service of the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Stres na pracovišti je zejména u některých profesí v dnešní době vážným problémem, se kterým se setkávají zaměstnanci téměř denně a může mít za následek odchod ze zaměstnání. Bakalářská práce se zabývá otázkami stresu u policistů, jako u jedné stresem ohrožených profesí. Cílem této bakalářské práce je identifikovat, zda existuje vztah mezi faktory, které ovlivňují stres a faktory pracovní spokojenosti. Dále zjistit jaká je míra stresu a pracovní spokojeností zaměstnanců, kteří jsou ve služebním poměru u Policie České republiky. Data byla sesbírána pomocí dotazníkového šetření, které bude provedeno na obvodních odděleních, odděleních hlídkové služby a dopravním inspektorátu v okrese Chomutov. Distribuce dotazníků proběhla osobně příslušníkům policie na jejich domovských odděleních. Následně byly data vyhodnocena za pomocí regresní analýzy a Wilcoxonovo neparametrickému testu. Potvrdila se zde existence vztahu mezi celkovou spokojeností a faktory, které ovlivňují stres. Byly zde prokázány pozitivní i negativní vztahy, stejně tak byla prokázána existence vztahu mezi celkovým stresem a faktory, které ovlivňují pracovní spokojenost. Dále se zde potvrdila hypotéza, že policisté projevily větší spokojenost s platem než s osobním ohodnocením. Výsledky bakalářské práce pomohou vedoucím oddělení jak v okrese Chomutov, tak u celé PČR, k získání informací o tom, které vybrané faktory ovlivňují pracovní spokojenost v zaměstnání. Důležité je neustále zkoumat a zlepšovat pracovní podmínky s cílem zvýšit pracovní spokojenost policistů a efektivitu práce policie.

Abstract:

Workplace stress is a serious issue, particularly in certain professions, where employees encounter it almost daily, potentially leading to attrition. This bachelor's thesis delves into the topic of stress among police officers, a profession particularly susceptible to stress. The aim of this thesis is to identify factors influencing stress and job satisfaction, as well as to determine the level of stress and job satisfaction among employees of the Czech Republic Police. Data were collected through a questionnaire survey conducted at district police stations, patrol service departments, and the traffic inspectorate in the Chomutov district. The distribution of questionnaires was done in person to police officers at their respective stations. Subsequently, the data were analyzed using regression analysis and the Wilcoxon non-parametric test. The study confirmed the existence of a relationship between overall job satisfaction and factors influencing stress. Both positive and negative relationships were demonstrated, as well as the existence of a relationship between overall stress and factors influencing job satisfaction. Furthermore, the hypothesis that police officers express greater satisfaction with their salary than with personal recognition was confirmed. The results of this bachelor's thesis will aid department heads in the Chomutov district and throughout the Czech Republic Police in obtaining information about the specific factors influencing job satisfaction in employment. It is important to continually examine and improve working conditions with the aim of enhancing the job satisfaction of police officers and the efficiency of police work.
