Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na reflexi počátku první světové války v českém prostředí z pohledu dvou periodik sociálně-demokratického tisku, Deníku Právo lidu a týdeníku Severočeský dělník. Práce analyzuje, jak tisk reagoval na události jako atentát na následníka trůnu, předložení ultimáta a vyhlášení války, a jakou odezvu měly tyto události u veřejnosti, u dvoru a v zahraničí. Dále se práce zaměřuje na změny ve struktuře tisku během válečného roku 1914. Cílem práce je odpovědět na položené badatelské otázky a srovnat výsledky se současnou historiografií. Práce využívá metody analýzy a komparace pramenů, odborné literatury a odborných časopisů.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis examines the reflection of the beginning of World War I in the Czech environment from the perspective of two social-democratic periodicals: Právo lidu and Severočeský dělník. The aim of the thesis is to answer questions regarding how the press responded to events such as the assassination of the heir to the throne, the presentation of the ultimatum, and the declaration of war. These events were analyzed from the perspective of the public, the court, and foreign countries. The thesis utilizes methods of source analysis and comparison, professional literature, and academic journals. The historical context of the pre-war and war periods is also described in the thesis, as well as how the press maintained a neutral stance towards the events under strict censorship. The daily newspaper Právo lidu extensively described the assassination, while Severočeský dělník focused more on social problems in the domestic environment.
