The impact of the reconstruction of the state chateau Slatiňany on its visit rate

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá vlivem rekonstrukce státního zámku Slatiňany na jeho návštěvnost. Teoretická část práce poskytuje přehled o kulturním cestovním ruchu v České republice a představuje zámek z pohledu historie i současnosti. Bližší pozornost je věnována stavebnímu vývoji s důrazem na rozsáhlou obnovu zámeckého areálu, která proběhla v letech 2017-2020. V praktické části práce je provedena analýza sekundárních dat, ve které jsou porovnávány údaje o počtu a složení návštěvníků v období před a po rekonstrukci. Údaje pro srovnání pocházejí z interních statistik zámku. Záležitosti související s rekonstrukcí a návštěvností zámku byly diskutovány s kastelánem v rámci řízeného rozhovoru. Závěry podporují očekávání, že rekonstrukce měla navzdory pandemii a zkrácené turistické sezóně pozitivní vliv na návštěvnost především díky medializaci. Potenciál cestovního ruchu však není zcela naplněn, proto jsou v poslední kapitole představeny návrhy opatření, která by mohla přispět k budoucímu nárůstu počtu návštěvníků.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is specifically concerned with impact of the reconstruction of state chateau Slatiňany on its visit rate. The theoretical part of the thesis provides an overview of cultural tourism in the Czech Republic, presents the chateau from the perspective of history as well as the present. Closer attention is paid to the construction development with an emphasis on the extensive renovation of the chateau grounds, which took place from 2017 to 2020. In the practical part of the thesis, an analysis of secondary data is carried out, in which data on the number and composition of visitors in the period before and after the reconstruction are set against each other. The data for the comparison was obtained from the chateau's internal statistics. Matters related to the reconstruction and the visit rate were discussed in the interview conducted with castellan of the chateau. The conclusions support the expectation that the reconstruction, despite the pandemic and shortened tourist season, had a positive effect on visit rate due to medialization. However, the potential for tourism is not fully fulfilled thus the last chapter presents proposals for measures that could contribute to the future increase in the number of visitors.
