Actors in the Process of Reconciliation and Their Impact on the Post-Conflict Society: a Case Study of Sierra Leone

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je identifikovat aktéry rekonciliace v Sieře Leone a analyzovat jejich vliv na proces rekonciliace, a tudíž i post-konfliktní společnost. Výzkumná otázka, na niž bakalářská práce hledá odpověď, je, jaké byly role aktérů v rekonciliačním procesu. Práce zkoumá tři kategorie aktérů: vládní, nevládní, a aktéry založené pod vlivem OSN. Analýza je založena na posouzení vlivu a přispění aktérů v sedmi dimenzích rekonciliace, čímž jsou analyzovány i jejich role v rekonciliačním procesu obecně.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to identify the actors of reconciliation in Sierra Leone and analyse their impact on the post-conflict society. The research question the thesis seeks to answer is what the roles of the actors in the process of reconciliation were. Three categories of actors are researched: governmental, non-governmental, and those established under UN influence. The analysis involves assessing actors’ impact on, and contributions to, seven dimensions of reconciliation, and thereby the overall impact of their actions on reconciliation is analysed.
