Special pedagogical strategies and approaches to managing the aggression of students with mental disabilities

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá problematikou agrese u žáků s mentálním postižením. Při tvorbě postupů při řešení situací spojených s projevy agresivního chování nám mohou být nápomocné vybrané speciálně pedagogické přístupy a strategie. Těžištěm výzkumu je otázka, s jakými projevy agrese se pedagogové nejčastěji setkávají a jak jsou naučeni tyto situace řešit. Pro výzkum jsem využila kvalitativní i kvantitativní metody. Při svém výzkumu jsem pracovala s kazuistickou studií a polostrukturovaným dotazníkem, využila jsem zúčastněné pozorování, přímou práci s žáky a analýzu dokumentace žáků. Kvalitativní část výzkumu obsahuje konkrétní popisy situací souvisejících s projevy náročného chování a způsobů jejich řešení. Kvantitativní část výzkumu sleduje četnost výskytu agrese u žáků s mentálním postižením z pohledu pedagogů a to, zda jsou pedagogové na tyto situace odborně připravováni.

Abstract:

This work addresses the issue of aggression in students with intellectual disabilities. Selected special pedagogical approaches and strategies can be helpful in developing procedures for handling situations related to aggressive behavior. The focus of the research is on the question of which manifestations of aggression educators most commonly encounter and how they are trained to deal with these situations. I utilized both qualitative and quantitative methods for the research. I worked with a case study and a semi-structured questionnaire, employed participant observation, direct work with students, and analyzed student documentation. The qualitative part of the research contains specific descriptions of situations related to challenging behaviors and ways to address them. The quantitative part of the research examines the frequency of aggression occurrence in students with intellectual disabilities from the perspective of educators, as well as whether educators are professionally prepared for these situations.
