The needs of a women with induced abortion during the second trimester of pregrancy

Abstract:

Cíl: Tato diplomová práce si klade za cíl popsat a porozumět potřebám žen, které prošly indukovaným potratem ve druhém trimestru těhotenství na základě genetické indikace z důvodu vrozené vývojové vady u plodu. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována emocionálním a psychologickým dopadům, které tato událost ženě přináší a jak je možné těmto komplikacím předcházet. Metodika: Výzkum byl realizován jako kvalitativní studie, využívající polostrukturované rozhovory se sedmi ženami, které prošly indukovaným potratem. Data byla analyzována metodou otevřeného kódování s cílem identifikovat klíčové tematické kategorie a subkategorie. Výsledky: Z analýzy dat vyplynulo, že ženy potřebují citlivé a empatické sdělení diagnózy, dostatečný čas na rozhodnutí a podporu během celého průběhu potratu i po něm. Byla zjištěna zásadní role porodních asistentek v poskytování emocionální podpory a informací. Závěr: Studie potvrzuje, že individualizovaný přístup a komplexní psychologická podpora jsou klíčové pro zvládnutí zkušenosti s indukovaným potratem. Výsledky naznačují, že zlepšení komunikačních dovedností zdravotnického personálu, může výrazně přispět ke zlepšení péče o tyto ženy.

Abstract:

Objectives: This thesis aims to describe and understand the needs of women who have undergone an induced abortion in the second trimester of pregnancy based on a genetic indication due to a congenital developmental defect in the fetus. Particular attention is given to the emotional and psychological effects that this event has to the woman. Methodology: The research was conducted as a qualitative study using semi-structured interviews with seven women who experienced induced abortions. Data were analyzed using open coding to identify key thematic categories and subcategories. Results: The analysis of the data showed that women need sensitive and empathetic communication of the diagnosis, sufficient time to make decisions and support throughout the abortion process, and after it. The essential role of midwives in providing emotional support and information was identified. Conclusions: The study confirms that an individualized approach and comprehensive psychological support are key to managing the experience of induced abortion. The results indicate that improving the communication skills of medical personnel can significantly contribute to improving the care of these women.
