Women Mystics in the Middle Ages

Abstract:

Tématem této diplomové práce jsou ?Ženy mystičky ve středověku?. Nejprve jsme vymezili význam pojmu mystiky. Ukázali jsme, že jádrem mystiky je hluboce niterný prožitek. Dále popisujeme jednotlivé cesty, jak vytouženého stavu bezprostřední relace mezi člověkem a Božstvím docílit. Ve druhé části práce pojednáváme o postavení ženy ve středověku. Zdůrazňujeme, že ženy hrály ve středověké společnosti menší roli než muži a byly také silně omezovány dobou, v níž byly normy společnosti dány křesťanským světovým názorem. Stanovujeme typické ženské středověké role: panny, matky a rodičky dědiců, vdovy. Zamýšlíme se nad dobovým negativním a pozitivním hodnocení žen. Třetí kapitola přibližuje dějiny ženské středověké spirituality. Pozornost je věnována také portrétům nejznámějších představitelek ženské mystiky. Dále zkoumáme způsoby, jak ženy vyjadřovaly své mystické zkušenosti či prožitky a představujeme jazyk mysticky nadaných žen. V závěru práce se zabýváme feministickou teologií.

Abstract:

The topic of this diploma thesis is ?Women Mystics in the Middle Ages?. First we defined the content of the term ?mystique?. We proved that the core of mystique is a deeply inward experience. Next we describe individual ways to achieve the longed-for state of imminent relation between human and divine. In the second part of the thesis we deal with the position of women in the Middle Ages. We emphasize that women were less important than men and they also were greatly limited by the era, whose social rules were given by the Christian world view. We state typical women medieval roles: virgins, mothers and birth givers to the heirs, widows. We think of negative and positive evaluation of women. The third chapter outlines the history of women?s medieval spirituality. Portrays of most famous representatives of women mystique are also included. Next we investigate ways how women expressed their mystical experiences and present the language of mystically gifted women. The end concerns feministic theology.
