Prenatal Screening in the Czech Republic and in Abroad

Abstract:

Prenatální screening je součástí fetální medicíny. Tento obor se zabývá zjišťováním vrozených vývojových vad plodu. Screeningové metody jsou jednoduché, rychlé, bezbolestné a nepřináší s sebou riziko potratu. Mezi screeningové neinvazivní metody patří ultrazvuk a krevní testy těhotné ženy. Pozitivní výsledek prenatálního screeningu znamená, že těhotná žena musí podstoupit další vyšetření pomocí invazivních metod, např. amniocentézu. Tyto metody už s sebou přinášejí menší riziko potratu, ale jsou mnohem spolehlivější než metody neinvazivní.

Abstract:

Prenatal screening is a part of the Fetal medicine. This specialization deals with the detection of congenital defects of the fetus. Screening methods are quick, easy, painless and they don´t bring with it the risk of abortion. Ultrasound and blood tests of a pregnant woman belong to the screening methods. Positive result means that the pregnant woman has to undergo another testing using invasive methods, for example amnicentesis. These methods already bring a lower risk of abortion, but are more trustworthy than non-invasive methods.
