Ageism as a Socially Pathological Phenomenon in Society

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá ageismem jako sociálně patologickým jevem ve společnosti. Cílem práce je charakteristika Ageismu jako sociálně patologického jevu a zjištění od seniorské populace, která se s Ageismem potýká ve svém životě. Teoretická část definuje samotný pojem ageismus, jeho zdroje a projevy. Srovnání postojů tří zemí, jak pohlížejí na problematiku ageismu. Definujeme také sociální patologii, kde se hlouběji zabýváme teoriemi zdrojů sociální patologie a následně agresivitou a násilím. Klíčovou podkapitolou je prevence násilí a agresivního chování. Zmiňujeme v závěru teoretické části pojem senior a změny, které s sebou stáří přináší. Změny zmiňujeme velice obsáhle a z každého pohledu, protože každý senior je individuální bytostí a bio-psycho-sociální jednotkou. V poslední kapitole dochází ke komparaci přístupů k seniorům v České republice vs. USA a v závěru teoretické části definujeme nadřazený pojem pro ageismus, kterým je EAN. Což je zkratka anglického sousloví Elder Abuse and Neglect Syndrom, který si překládáme, jako špatné zacházení či týrání seniorů. V empirické části se zaměřujeme na kvantitativní výzkum v podobě dotazníkového šetření, zároveň interpretací získaných dat a zodpovězení si na výzkumné otázky.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis is focused on ageism as social-patological phenomenon in society. The aim of the thesis is characterization of ageism such as social-patological phenomenon and a survey of this issue within the elderly, who face ageism in their lives. Theoretical part defines ageism and its cause and manifestation and comparison of approaches of three different countries. We define social patology and the theories of its cause and aggression and violance. The key chapter is the prevention of violance and aggression. In the end of the theoretical part there are mentioned the term senior and changes, which are brought by getting old. The changes are described extensively and from different points of view, because every senior is an individual human being and bio-psycho-social unit. The comparison of the approaches in the Czech Republic and the USA is found in the last chapter. In the end of the theoretical part there is superordinate term for ageism EAN (= Elder Abuse and Neglect Syndrom). The practical part is focused on quantitative research through a questionnaire survey, interpretation of given data and answering of research question.
