Payment Cards - Current Trends

Abstract:

Platební karty prošly za 100 let jejich existence velkým technologickým vývojem a dnes už jsou naprosto standardním produktem, který nám usnadňuje každodenní přístup k penězům. Zároveň nám umožňují, být formou elektronických platebních systémů, součástí virtuálního světa, kde platební karta sehrává, a v budoucnu ještě sehraje důležitou roli. V diplomové práci jsem se zaměřila na zmapování aktuálních trendů v platebních kartách a výzkum nových technologií. Dále jsem v práci popsala vybrané prostředky NFC technologie, její implementaci v komerčních bankách, ale i výhody a nevýhody spojené s jejím užíváním. Blízká budoucnost bude patřit bezkontaktní technologii, předplaceným kartám, platebním nálepkám nebo čipům v mobilních telefonech. Ta o málo vzdálenější, kartám biometrickým s čtečkou otisku prstu. V dotazníkovém průzkumu jsem položila respondentům otázky zaměřené průřezově na jednotlivé oblasti obsažené v diplomové práci. Týkaly se bezkontaktních a virtuálních karet, elektronických peněz, ale i tolik diskutované ochrany a bezpečnosti spojené s užíváním platebních karet.

Abstract:

Payment cards have undergone a great technological development over 100 years of their existence and today are a fully standard product which facilitates everyday access to money. At the same time, they enable us to be, by means of electronic payment systems, a part of the virtual world where the payment card plays and in the future will yet play an important role. My thesis focuses on mapping out current trends in payment cards and research into new technologies. Furthermore, I described in my thesis selected means of NFC technology, its pilot implementation in commercial banks but also advantages and disadvantages connected with its usage. The near future will belong to a non-contact technology, prepaid cards, payment stickers or chips in mobile phones. The little more distant future to biometric cards with a scanner of the finger print. In the questionnaire research, I asked respondents questions focused on each areas incorporated in my thesis. They included non-contact and virtual cards, e-money but also the so much discussed protection and security connected with the usage of payment cards.
