The Importance of Occupational Therapy Intervention on Rehabilitation after Severe Burn Polytrauma

Abstract:

Autorka představuje svou zkušenost ergoterapeutky v rehabilitaci pacienta po závažném popáleninovém polytraumatu. Cílem bakalářské práce je zdůraznění potřeby a významu ergoterapeutické intervence u pacientů po popáleninovém polytraumatu pro jejich co největší možnou soběstačnost a začlenění v dalším běžném životě. Teoretická část práce obsahuje zpracování odborné literatury týkající se popáleninového traumatu a jeho rehabilitace z pohledu ergoterapie. V hlavní části práce je popsána kazuistika včetně ergoterapeutického vyšetření. Ke zjišťování dat byly využity standardizované a vlastní testy. Uvedeny jsou výsledky testování, jejich porovnání, popis terapií, krátkodobý a dlouhodobý ergoterapeutický plán. Klient byl přijat jako vysoce závislý, odcházel ve stupni lehké závislosti dle Barthel Indexu. Kazuistika potvrzuje potřebu a význam ergoterapeutické intervence v rehabilitaci po závažném popáleninovém polytraumatu.

Abstract:

The author presents her experience as an occupational therapist in the rehabilitation of a patient after a severe burn polytrauma. The aim of the bachelor thesis is an emphasis on need and also importance of occupational therapy intervention in patients after burn polytrauma for their best possible self-sufficiency and inclusion in subsequent everyday life. The theoretical part of the thesis contains the elaboration of professional literature concerning burn trauma and its rehabilitation from the point of view of occupational therapy. The main part of the work is described case study including occupational therapy examination. They were used for data collection standardized tests and own tests. The results of testing, their comparison, and description of therapies, short-term and long-term occupational therapy plan. The client was accepted as highly dependent on health care, leaving in a degree of mild dependence according to the Barthel Index. The case report confirms the need and importance of occupational therapy intervention in rehabilitation after severe burn polytrauma.
