Critical Success Factors for Lean Six Sigma in the Tire Manufacturing Process

Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce bylo navrhnout opatření pro zvýšení úspěšnosti zlepšovacích Lean Six Sigma projektů ve zkoumané společnosti pomocí identifikace a analýzy kritických faktorů úspěchu. Jako zájmový podnik byla vybrána společnost v gumárenském odvětví. První část práce je věnována představení odvětví samotného s důrazem na pneumatiku a její výrobu. Dále je pozornost zaměřena na Lean Six Sigma metodologii, popsána komplexita a kritické faktory úspěchu. Součástí práce je Case study Six Sigma projektu dle DMAIC metodiky. Je uskutečněna analýza zlepšovacích projektů za účelem zjištění faktorů ovlivňujících úspěch projektu. Na základě provedené analýzy lze konstatovat, že jednotlivé složky komplexity mají vliv na úspěch projektu, ale vliv komplexity samotné se neukazuje jako významný faktor ovlivňující úspěch projektu. Návrh opatření a výsledky analýzy jsou diskutovány s využitím vlastních zkušeností a znalostí a v kontextu s publikovanou literaturou.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis was to propose measures to increase the success rate of Lean Six Sigma improvement projects in the studied company by identifying and analyzing critical success factors. A company in the tire industry was selected as the company of interest. The first part of the thesis is devoted to the introduction of the industry itself, with emphasis on tyres and their production. Next, the focus is on the Lean Six Sigma methodology, describing the complexity and critical success factors. The thesis includes a case study of a Six Sigma project according to the DMAIC methodology. An analysis of improvement projects is carried out to identify the factors affecting the success of the project. Based on the analysis, it can be concluded that the individual components of complexity have an impact on the success of the project, but the impact of complexity itself is not found to be a significant factor affecting the success of the project. The design of the measures and the results of the analysis are discussed using our own experience and knowledge and in the context of published literature.
