Child marriage in the context of international rights of the child

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá sňatky dětí, které se odehrávají především v rozvojových zemích a mají různé příčiny i dopady. Při těchto obřadech bývá jednomu či oběma ze snoubenců méně než 18 let. Tato práce je rozdělena do tří kapitol a jejím cílem je odpovědět na otázku, zda dětské svatby ve svém důsledku porušují mezinárodní normy k ochraně práv dítěte či nikoli. V teoretické části jsou uvedeny nejvýznamnější mezinárodní deklarace a úmluvy obsahující práva dítěte, vydané ve 20. století. Druhá kapitola se věnuje přímo sňatkům dětí; je zde obsažena jejich definice a dále upřesňuje, kde se odehrávají a co vede rodiče či opatrovníky dětí k jejich zaslíbení. Následuje třetí kapitola, která se zaobírá analýzou porušování mezinárodních norem k ochraně práv dítěte, ať již přímo či v souvislosti s dopady svateb mladistvých na jejich životy.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis deals with the child marriages that occur mainly in the developing countries and their various causes and consequences. During such ceremonies is one or both of the betrothed is less than 18 years old. This work is divided into three chapters and its aim is to answer the question of whether or not children's weddings ultimately violate international standards to protect the rights of the child or not. The theoretical part provides the most important international declarations and conventions containing the rights of the child, published in the 20th century. The second chapter is devoted directly to discussing marriages of children; contained therein is their definition, and then further clarification of where they occur and what leads parents or guardians of children to marry them. The third chapter deals with the analysis of violations of international standards to protect the rights of the child, either directly or in connection with the impacts of weddings of teenagers on their lives.
