The role of the educator in the development of self-concept in adolescents.

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá rolí pedagoga při rozvoji sebepojetí u adolescentů. Teoretická část pojednává o základních pojmech užívaných v diplomové práci, jako je adolescence, sebepojetí, ale i osobnost učitele a samotné školy, jakožto faktor ve vývoji v životě adolescenta. Cílem praktické části bylo zjistit, jakou roli sehrává pedagog ve formování sebepojetí žáků a jaké způsoby a strategie lze užít, aby pomáhal adolescentům ve tvorbě zdravého sebepojetí. Pro získání dat, které sloužily k následující analýze, byla v praktické části použita metoda polostrukturovaného rozhovoru. Výsledkem byly odpovědi pedagogů na zvolené výzkumné otázky, kde je zkoumána jejich role a pedagogická podpora v rozvoji sebepojetí adolescentů ve školním prostředí. Tyto otázky se týkaly vlastního vnímání sebepojetí a interakci se žáky v kontextu s rozvojem sebepojetí. Dále atributům a charakteristikám, které by pedagog měl mít, aby mohl efektivně přispívat k formování pozitivního sebepojetí u žáků. Další otázka se týkala strategií, které lze užívat při práci s adolescenty, aby identifikovali a porozuměli vlastním emocím a postojům ve vztahu k jejich sebepojetí. Posledním zkoumaným byly nejčastější překážky, se kterými se pedagogové setkávají ve své učitelské praxi při snaze podporovat zdravé a pozitivní sebepojetí u adolescentů.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the role of the teacher in the development of self-concept in adolescents. The theoretical part discusses the basic concepts used in the thesis, such as adolescence, self-concept, as well as the personality of the teacher and the school itself as a factor of development in the life of the adolescent. The aim of the practical part was to find out what role the teacher plays in the formation of students' self-concept and what methods and strategies can be used to help adolescents in the formation of a healthy self-concept. In the practical part, the semi-structured interview method was used to obtain data for the following analysis. As a result, the teachers' responses to the selected research questions were examined, where their role and pedagogical support in the development of adolescents' self-concept in the school environment is explored. These questions related to self-concept, interaction with students in the context of self-concept development, and the attributes and characteristics of the educator to effectively contribute to the formation of positive self-concept in students, strategies for working with adolescents to identify and understand their own emotions and attitudes in relation to their self-concept, and the most common barriers that educators encounter in their teaching practice when trying to promote healthy and positive self-concept in adolescents.
