Nurses’ awareness about NANDA – International, NIC, NOC

Abstract:

The goal of bachelor thesis was to clarify the nurses’ awareness of classification systems NANDA – International, NIC, NOC. The thesis was divided into two parts. In the theorethical part we aimed to characterise the developement of nursing classifications NANDA – I, NIC and NOC through the history, their actual form and the need for standardization of nursing language in modern health services. The practical part was designed to find out differences in nurses’ awareness based on their education level and lenghth of practice and to map their attitude to potential implementation of these classifications in the Czech Republic. We set 3 goals and 6 expected outcomes. The data for analysis was collected by questionaire and evaluated by the aid of tables, graphs and statistical analysis. We proved that nurses with a university degree have better knowledge about classification systems NANDA – I, NIC, NOC and are better informed about unification of nursing language than nurses with a lower level of education. At the same time, we found out that NANDA – I is more known than NIC and NOC and that at the surveyed hospital departments the classifications are not in use. We were not able to prove any statistically significant difference in awareness based on the length of practice or in the opinion about classification use based on the education level.

Abstract:

Úlohou bakalárskej práce bolo objasniť informovanosť sestier o klasifikačných systémoch NANDA – International, NIC, NOC. Práca bola rozdelená na dve časti. V teoretickej časti sme sa zamerali na charakteristiku vývoja ošetrovateľských klasifikácii NANDA – I, NIC a NOC v histórii, ich dnešnú podobu a potrebu štandardizácie ošetrovateľského jazyka v modernom zdravotníctve. Praktická časť mala za úlohu zistiť rozdiely v informovanosti sestier na základe ich dosiahnutého stupňa vzdelania a dĺžky doterajšej praxe a zmapovať postoj sestier k prípadnej implementácii týchto klasifikácii v Českej republike. Stanovené boli 3 ciele práce a 6 očakávaných výsledkov. Dáta k analýze sme zbierali za pomoci dotazníkového šetrenia, ktoré sme vyhodnotili za pomoci tabuliek, grafov a štatistickej analýzy. Dokázali sme, že vysokoškolské sestry majú lepšie znalosti klasifikačných systémov NANDA – I, NIC, NOC a sú viac oboznámené s unifikáciou ošetrovateľského jazyka než sestry s nižším vzdelaním. Zároveň sme zistili, že NANDA – I je známejšou ako NIC a NOC a na sledovaných oddeleniach sa tieto klasifikačné systémy nepoužívajú. Nepodarilo sa nám dokázať štatisticky významný rozdiel v informovanosti na základe dĺžky praxe sestier, ani v názore a postoji k používaniu štandardizovného ošetrovateľského jazyka na základe výšky dosiahnutého vzdelania.
