Lou as an anti-women's rights activist? On the reception of Lou Andreas Salomé's essays and stories

Abstract:

In this bachelor's thesis I examine the literary reception of selected works of the German author Lou Andreas-Salomé, namely her two essays – Der Mensch als Weib and Die Erotik, and two short stories – Fenitschka and Eine Auschweiffung. The work reflects and compares contemporary and modern feminist criticism and also includes an attempt to determine her position in the literary field. The thesis attempts to answer the question of whether, on the basis of contemporary criticism, can Lou Andreas-Salomé be seen as an antifeminist.

Abstract:

V tejto bakalárskej práci sa zaoberám literárnym prijatím diel nemeckej autorky Lou Andreas-Salomé, konkrétne jej dvoch esejí Der Mensch als Weib a Die Erotik, a dvoch poviedok Fenitschka a Eine Auschweiffung. V práci je reflektovaná a porovnávaná dobová a moderná feministická kritika a obsiahnutý je taktiež pokus určiť jej pozíciu v literárnom poli. Práca sa snaží odpovedať na otázku, či Lou Andreas-Salomé možno vnímať na základe dobových kritík ako antifeministku.
