Anotácia:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje především na hlavní postavy matek v románech The Summer Before the Dark a The Fifth Child napsaných britskou autorkou Doris Lessing. Ve čtyřech kapitolách práce představuje relevantní události, které ovlivnily díla Lessing, analyzuje vnímání svobody postavami matek, způsoby, jakými se snaží svobody dosáhnout, a poskytuje porovnání dvou analyzovaných postav. Práce si také dává za cíl posoudit možnost, že postavy matek nejsou ve skutečnosti schopny svobody dosáhnout.

Abstract:

This bachelor’s thesis primarily focuses on the characters of mothers in the novels The Summer Before the Dark and The Fifth Child written by British author Doris Lessing. In the four chapters, the thesis introduces relevant events that affected Lessing’s works, analyses the perceptions of freedom of the characters of mothers, the ways they attempt to achieve their freedom, and offers the comparison of the two analysed characters. It also aims to consider the possibility that the characters of mothers are, in fact, unable to achieve freedom.
