Funeral rite of the Moravian Anabaptists (Hutterites)

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce je zaměřena na pohřební praktiky moravských novokřtěnců (hutteritů), včetně stručného popisu dějin této komunity na Moravě v 16. a 17. století. Významnou část práce tvoří vyhodnocení dosavadních poznatků z výzkumu novokřtěnského hřbitova v Přibicích zaměřeného na pohřební ritus. Analýza se zaměřuje na tvar, velikost a výplň hrobových jam, dále na polohu zemřelých a pozici horních a dolních končetin. Zahrnuta je i analýza vícenásobných a dětských hrobů či tafonomické a postdepoziční procesy a nálezy v hrobech.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on the burial practices of Moravian anabaptists (Hutterites), including a brief description of the history of this community in Moravia in the 16th and 17th centuries. A significant part of the thesis is an evaluation of known data from the research of the anabaptist cemetery in Přibice focused on the funeral rites. The analysis focuses on the shape, size and filling of grave pits, as well as the position of the deceased and the position of the upper and lower limbs. Also included is an analysis of multiple and child graves as well as taphonomic and post-depositional processes and grave finds.
