Diverzita a rozšíření jepic rodu Electrogena (Ephemeroptera: Heptageniidae) v oblasti Malého Kavkazu a Alborzu

Diversity and distribution of mayflies of the genus Electrogena (Ephemeroptera: Heptageniidae) in the Lesser Caucasus and Alborz Mts.

Abstract:

The genus Electrogena is a group of mayflies that can be found in the Caucasus region. This bachelor thesis deals with their diversity and distribution, focusing on the territory of the Lesser Caucasus and Alborz Mountains. Between 2009–2019, a total of 681 localities were visited in the Caucasus, where 318 records of subgenus Electrogena were recorded, and the material in this thesis includes 4355 specimens. To identify the species, mainly morphological, but also molecular methods were used. The new material identified five species from the 39 specimens processed by morphological analysis. Altogether 7 species of this genus were identified, 13 of the species described so far could not be confirmed in the study area. For the species de-termined on the basis of morphological characters, their distribution was analysed and distributions maps were drawn, as well as molecular analysis based on the COI gene. Species were defined using the GMYC model and intraspecific and interspecific pairwise genetic distances were calculated. The GMYC model recognized up to 14 species and confirmed most of the morphologically determined species, but also showed large intraspecific variation in widely distributed species. This research provides important insights into the diversity and distribution of mayflies in the Caucasus region and highlights the need for further studies to understand the ecological and evolutionary processes that shape the diversity of mayflies.

Abstract:

Rod Electrogena je skupinou jepic, kterou můžeme nalézt v oblasti regionu Kavkazu. Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá jejich diverzitou a rozšířením se zaměřením na území pohoří Malý Kavkaz a Alborz. V letech 2009–2019 bylo na Kavkazu navštíveno celkem 681 lokalit, kde bylo zaznamenáno 318 nálezů jepic rodu Electrogena, a materiál analyzovaný v této práci zahrnuje 4355 jedinců. Pro identifikaci druhů byly využity především morfologické, ale také molekulární metody. V novém materiálu jepic bylo určeno pět druhů pomocí detailní morfologické analýzy 39 jedinců. Celkem bylo určeno sedm druhů tohoto rodu, 13 z dosud popsaných druhů se ve studované oblasti nepodařilo doložit. Pro druhy determinované na základě morfologických znaků bylo vyhodnoceno jejich rozšíření, byly vykreslené mapy jejich distribuce a také provedena molekulární analýza založená na genu COI. Druhy byly vymezené pomocí GMYC modelu a byly vypočítány vnitrodruhové a mezidruhové párové genetické vzdálenosti. GMYC model rozeznal až 14 druhů a potvrdil většinu morfologicky určených druhů, ale také ukázal velkou vnitrodruhovou variabilitu u široce rozšířených druhů. Tento výzkum poskytuje důležité poznatky o diverzitě a rozšíření jepic v kavkazském regionu a zdůrazňuje potřebu dalšího studia pro pochopení ekologických a evolučních procesů, které formují rozmanitost jepic v této oblasti.
